A young man, who is believed to have been involved in a vehicle hijacking in Centurion on Thursday, was arrested in Midrand for allegedly being involved in two hijackings and being in possession of two stolen vehicles.
According to JMPD spokesperson, chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar, the man, who is apparently in his late twenties, was arrested by officers of the JMPD Midrand high speed unit after they saw a silver Mercedez Benz and a white Hyundai Getz driving recklessly on the K101 towards Midrand. The suspect also had a firearm.
According to Minnaar four other suspects managed to flee the scene.
“The JMPD then discovered that the Mercedez Benz was hijacked in Centurion earlier that day and the Getz was stolen in Kempton Park last year,” he said.
