The police in Mabopane have intensified their search for an accused double murderer who has evaded them for seven years. The accused, known as Nkomo Romeo Mathebula, has been on the run since he was arrested for fatally shooting and robbing elderly couples in Soutpan, near Soshanguve, a few years ago and escaped. Mathebula is also known as Buster.
He is accused of escaping from custody in 2010 after he deceived court officials. According to the police, the 33-year-old accused is a dangerous criminal. Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi, told Record that the accused has been operating in Soshanguve, Mabopane, Ga-Rankuwa and other areas across the Pretoria region. Nkoadi described Buster as one of the country’s most dangerous criminals. He is suspected to be hiding in the villages around the north-western townships of Pretoria. “Back in 2011, the accused was arrested with three accomplices and the case was in the Pretoria High Court. Unfortunately, he managed to escape,” said Nkoadi.
Mathebula is also accused of robbing residents of Itsoeseng near Hebron. Nkoadi warned the public that the suspect usually carries a gun and urged anyone with information that may lead to his arrest to call 078-122-2226 or 072-286-5404.
