Man wanted for girlfriend’s murder

Police are still looking for a 48-year-old man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend at the Gomora Squatter camp.

Gomora squatter camp residents are shocked at the death of a 46-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed to death by her 48-year-old boyfriend.

According to community representative, Zimkhona Masanabo they do not condone such incidents because every person deserves to live.

“It looked like it was this person’s intention to murder the woman. Apparently the music was playing so loud that the children did not even hear anything.”

Hercules police spokesperson, Captain Bonginkosi Msimango, said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police are also looking for the suspect for a domestic-related murder.

“According to information received so far, the son of the deceased went to his mother’s shack in the same yard and found her body. He found the door open and on entering the shack, he found his mother lying on the bed with her hands hanging to the floor and bleeding.”

Msimango said they were called to the scene and paramedics were summoned.

“Paramedics certified the woman dead with stab wounds below the left ear and left arm.”

Msimango mentioned that a knife was found near the deceased that might have been used during the offence.

“The motive of the murder has not been established. A case of murder has been opened for further investigations.”

It is believed that the suspect took his clothes and fled the scene. Police are still searching for him.

Police urge members of the community that might know the whereabouts of the suspect or have any information, to contact the police on 012-377-4100.
