Father of three shot and killed in Kloofsig
Police are searching for the murderers of a 41-year-old taxi owner who was shot and killed on Kruger Street, Kloofsig on Thursday afternoon.

Sadness and grief hovered over the Kloofsig Kwikspar after a 41-year-old father of three tragically lost his life when he was unexpectedly shot and killed on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Frans Mnguni (41), husband and father of three children, was allegedly sitting in a black VW Polo, when a car approached him and a man got out and fired several shot at Mnguni before the man fled.
Mnguni, owner of three taxis of the Centurion Taxi Association (CTA), was parked outside the association’s office on Kruger Street near the Kloofsig Spar when he was murdered.
“The deceased died instantly as he was shot in the upper body. We also found six rounds on the floor. We are not sure how many of those six rounds caused the death as that will only be determined by pathologists,” said police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng.

Godfrey Mnguni (38), brother of the deceased, believes his brother’s killing is related to the taxi industry.
“My brother had mentioned something about the association planning new routes. I think this might be related. My brother was a humble guy and quiet. As you can see, he was playing a game in the car when he got killed,” he said.
However, the CTA believes there is no relation as there is never taxi violence in Centurion. “We do not really believe that this murder is taxi related as the taxi industry in Centurion is calm and peaceful. We never experience such things,” said a member of the association. Mnguni, a husband and father to three children, was the bread-winner at their Pierre Van Ryneveld home.
“This is tragic. My brother had kids, one who was doing her second year in psychology. We were very close. Since I worked in the area, I would buy us a meal and we would spend our lunch breaks together. As for funeral arrangements, I will have to confirm with my mother,” said Godfrey.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. “By-standers say they did not see anything. They even say they cannot identify the car. Anyone who can help with this investigation can report to the Lyttelton Police Station,” said Mofokeng.
