Alleged house robbers still at large

The domestic worker was hiding in the room and confirmed that suspects were armed.

Police were still searching for two male suspects in connection with a house robbery that occurred in Stinkhout Street in Eldoraigne.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto, said the complainant who is a domestic worker, told the police that when she arrived at her work place she saw two suspects breaking the burglar door with a garden fork.

According to Moloto, the domestic worker alleged that she tried to run away but was caught by the suspects. He further said it is alleged that the suspects asked for the house keys as they were threatening to stab her with a screw driver and she gave them the keys.

“They tied her up and locked her in a bathroom inside the house and then ransacked the house taking jewellery, a plasma TV, clothes, a bicycle, groceries as well as a play station. The suspect’s run away from the scene and the complainant alleged that she heard a sound of a car outside.

According to sector 3 Wierdabrug community police forum (CPF) chairperson, Hannes du Buisson, the suspects who broke into the house were travelling in a white Corolla Verso.

“Crime is a serious concern and we encourage members of the public to report any criminal activities or suspicious vehicles to the police or contact our call centre on 072-822-9312 or 072-837-5278. Criminals must know the community in sector 3 is tired of crime and criminal activities in their area and they will assist the police and other crime fighting organisations at all times to ensure a safer community,” said Du Buisson.

No injuries were sustained and a case of house robbery was opened at Wierdebrug police station.
