How the ‘West’ was won by police

Seven more arrested for dagga and eight others for various other crimes.

The Pretoria West police managed to arrest 15 suspects over the past weekend for various crimes ranging from possession of dagga, theft, assault, contempt of court and various other crimes.

According to Pretoria West police spokesperson, Constable Lerato Ngomane, the Police flying squad, while raiding Pretoria West, arrested seven suspects for being in possession of dagga on Friday.

“The suspects were brought to the police station after they were arrested in the area by the flying squad for being in possession of dagga,” said Ngoma.

In a breakthrough in fighting the drug problem in the area, police also arrested 12 other suspects last week for being in possession of dagga.

Ngomane also said that one suspect was arrested for theft on Friday. And over the weekend, eight suspects were arrested: one for malicious damage to property, one for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, one for pointing a firearm, one for theft, two for drunk driving and one for being in contempt of court.

“The woman who was arrested for being in contempt of court violated a protection order against her. The protection order was in connection with a case of domestic violence against her,” Ngomane said.

The woman, along with the others, appeared in court on Monday.
