Stars aim at turning the tables
The JDR Stars under 11 soccer team is working hard for their upcoming games after a disappointing start it the Golden League division.
JDR Stars Football Club pledged to go all out and fight like a wounded tiger to regain their dignity and confidence when facing Berea Albion in their upcoming Golden League encounter at the Rangers soccer field in Gezina on 26 July.
The newly promoted under 11 team had a disappointing start in the Golden League after a stunning performance in the Green League division last season. They have already lost two consecutive matches at the hands of Centurion Blues and PCP FC in June. They lost both matches 2-0. The first game against Blues was a walkover and the second a clear loss.
The team was promoted to the higher division after completing the Green League last season in second position with 16 points, five points behind the champion, Orchards United.
Finishing in second spot, automatically qualified them to advance to a tougher division.
Bongani Ngwenya, JDR Stars’ head coach, said the players were working hard to turn the tables in their upcoming matches and he expects positive results.
“The school are closed, but the players are training to be ready for the tough matches ahead. We will fight hard for victories,” Ngwenya said.
He said although the two losses have frustrated the players, they are motivated to work hard and do well in the competition.
Interested parents and residents are invited to come watch the young ‘stars’ doing shoe-shine and shibobo styles on the field when JDR Stars and Berea Albion face each other. The match kicks off at 11:00.
