Police chase and catch cat dealer
The narcotics unit and CPF were busy conducting an operation when they noticed the occupants of two vehicles making a drug exchange.
The sheer relentlessness of members of the High Risk K9 Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of an alleged drug dealer in Pierre van Ryneveld Avenue on Sunday evening.
According to Arthur Crewe, spokesperson for the unit, two of their response vehicles noticed two men making a possible drug exchange in Solomon Mahlangu Drive.
Both vehicles, along with the Brooklyn sector 4 community policing forum (CPF), chased after the vehicles. “We lost the alleged dealer along the way but then turned our attention on the receiver of the drugs,” Crewe said.
He said that the unit, along with the CPF, were busy conducting an operation at the time when they noticed the occupants of two vehicles making an exchange.
According to Crewe, the high-speed chase came to an end in Pierre van Ryneveld Avenue, Centurion when members of the unit managed to cut the suspect off.
Crewe said that they found cat (methcathinone) in the man’s possession. He was handed over to the Lyttelton police who will investigate the matter further.
