Four burglars arrested

Police arrested four burglars on Monday and are still profiling them to see if they were involved in other crimes in the area.

Police arrested four men on Monday after a burglary in Bremer Street informal settlement.

Spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said they were believed to have been involved in a house burglary in May.

“It is alleged that the four men broke into the container of a complainant at Bremer informal settlement and stole a gas stove and lifting weights worth about R1000,” he said.

“All stolen goods were found in possession of the men at the same vicinity and were identified by the owner, but will kept at the police station until the end of the police case.”

Police were profiling the men to determine whether they could have been part of the other burglaries that had been reported in the same area, Mimango said.

“It is not easy to arrest the burglars right there and then, but we managed to arrest them through the investigations we conduct. The people we mostly arrest are not even from the area. We do our best to patrol the areas to avoid burglaries. People should make sure they lock their doors, try to get security measures, which will help too and make sure all valuable items are not visible.”

Msimango said that the four men would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
