Police arrest 392 people

The Ga-Rankuwa police focused on several crime hotspots and manned road blocks in the area during an operation over the weekend in which they arrested 392 people for various criminal offences.

The police focused on several crime hotspots in the area and manned road blocks.

Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi told Rekord they worked together as cluster members to combat crime in the area. Many who were arrested would now face charges relating to theft, illegal firearms, road traffic offences and being in possession of stolen property.

“We worked with the police from Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Akasia and Pretoria North to conduct operations across all the problematic crime spots. During the operations we managed to effect 392 arrests for, among others, murder, rape, armed robbery and business burglary. A few suspects were arrested for assault with intend to inflict grievous bodily harm,” he said.

Nkoadi added that they also arrested illegal immigrants.

The arrested people will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria North and Soshanguve Magistrates courts respectively while all illegal immigrants will be deported.
