Metro officers face suspension after taking a bribe

Two metro police officers were apprehended for bribery and corruption.

Two Tshwane metro police officers were arrested on Thursday afternoon for bribery and corruption.

The officers allegedly asked a motorist for a R300 bribe money or they would issue him with a fine for a faulty licence disk number.

”The motorist told the two officers he only had R100 on him but if they would followed him home to his plot in Garstfontein Road he would give them the rest of the money. While driving home he phoned the police and informed them about the situation,” senior superintendent Isaac Mahamba, spokesperson for the metro, said.

Mahamba said the police immediately reacted and apprehended the officers as they exited the plot.

”We have issued them with letters of intent to suspend them. They have seven working days to explain why they should not be suspended. As soon as we receive their explanations we will take the matter further,” he said.

Mahamba also said the two officer would appear in court soon on charges of bribery and corruption.
