Tshwane metro police clamp down on drug den

Tshwane metro police recently raided a drug den in the Moot area.

The Tshwane metro police raided an alleged drug den in Pierneef on Friday afternoon.

With the assistance of Kilnerpark Security and the Villieria police station, the metro police searched a house in 33rd Avenue.

It is still not clear how many people were arrested.

A concerned resident who wishes to remain anonymous in the area said the alleged drug den not only housed foreigners, but also suspected prostitutes.

Another resident, who also wants to remain anonymous, said that she has lived in the area for over 20 years and had been threatened and intimidated by the foreigners living at that house various times.

“I took a picture of one of the men living there once. A few days later he walked up to my fence and told me I am welcome to take another picture. He kept asking to speak to my husband and I felt scared,” the resident said.

The metro police spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba, confirmed the operation but could later not be reached for more information.

The Villeria police failed to comment.
