Police in the Ga-Rankuwa cluster have arrested over 200 people in the past week.

Police in the Ga-Rankuwa cluster arrested 221 people in the past week and over the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Rebecca Phatlhane, said police from Akasia, Mabopane, Pretoria North and Soshanguve worked together to conduct operations in all problematic crime spots.

Some of the offences included murder, attempted murder, housebreaking, possession of suspected stolen vehicles and various assault charges.

Police also managed to nab illegal immigrants, shoplifters, armed robbers and traffic offenders.

Other suspects are detained for crimes ranging from fraud, theft, intimidation, malicious damage to property, contempt of court and dealing in liquor without a licence. The operation started on Monday, 21 July and ended on Saturday, 26 July.
