Interpol on high alert after theft

Interpol now also part of crime statistics after theft at its Pretoria building.

Interpol is on high alert after laptops possibly containing sensitive information were stolen at the weekend.

Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale, police spokesperson, said police became aware of the theft on Sunday morning. “We have registered a case of robbery. Several laptops and other items, some belonging to the state and others privately owned, have been stolen.”

He said the police were investigating as to how the robbery happened, the motive and the nature of the information contained in the laptops.

According to reports these stolen laptops possibly contains sensitive information, including data on investigations into Radovan Krejcir.

Other possible information on the laptops reportedly included secret witness lists and information linked to investigations into international crime syndicates.
