Woman robbed at gunpoint

Suspects fled in a silver VW Polo.

A Lyttelton woman was robbed in her driveway on Thursday, police spokesman Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said.

He said the woman in her late twenties appeared to have been followed until she reached home around 13:05. Four men were seen driving behind the victim’s vehicle.

“When the woman stopped in the driveway, two of the four suspects approached her at gunpoint and demanded the house and car keys and the gate’s remote. They then opened the gate and attempted to go inside the yard but got scared when the woman started screaming for help,” Gumbu said.

Gumbu said a cellphone and a wedding ring were among the items taken.

“The other two suspects waiting in the vehicle later came to check why the other two were taking so long, but were scared off when the woman continued to scream for help.”

The four men fled in a silver Polo.

Police believed the same gang was responsible for a recent armed robbery in Doringkloof when the victim was also robbed car and house keys while trying to get inside the yard.

Gumbu urged people to alert police without delay when they believed they were being followed.
