Remember to switch on your alarm

A domestic worker went to do shopping without setting the alarm.

Home owners should always set their house alarms before leaving the premises, ADT Security said on Friday.

Its advice was prompted by a recent house break-in Doringkloof after a domestic worker went shopping without arming the home’s alarm system. Valuables and a car were stolen from the house.

Mike Kidson, Managing Director of ADT Security Northern Region, said this was an example of what could happen if an alarms was not set. He said the culprits suspects might have been watching the house when the domestic left.

“Just nipping to the shops quickly – remember to set your house alarm. The home owner was alerted by Tracker about the stolen vehicle and ADT was dispatched and discovered the break-in. The vehicle was later discovered in Sebokeng. Always arm you alarm system when leaving the house and teach your children and domestic workers to do the same,” said Kidson.

Police were not available to confirm the burglary.
