One at large after Lyttelton robbery
Police are searching for a man after two men were arrested during a house break-in in Lyttelton on Monday morning.
Two men were arrested and a third was being sought after a house was broken into in Smuts Street in Lyttelton on Monday morning, police said.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said two of the robbers were caught while trying to flee. “They entered the house by breaking the window, but neighbour alerted the police and the Lyttelton Sector 2 Community Policing Forum (CPF). As the police arrived, the suspects fled the scene,” he said.
Two men, aged 24 and 27, were caught after a chase by police and the CPF. The third man got away. “The one suspect was caught in Van Riebeeck Avenue while the other in Theodore Street. A bracelet and a memory stick were found in their possession, but we are unsure of what the third suspect fled with,” Gumbu said.
According to Crime Lookout, one of the men was injured while trying to get away.
A case of house break-in and theft is being investigated. “Anyone with information regarding the third suspect should please report to the Lyttelton Police Station on 012-644-8600,” Gumbu said.
