Police on the look out for fake cops

Three robbers who impersonated police officers are still on the run. Police urged anyone with more information to contact them immediately.

The police have pulled out all stops to gain more information about three robbers who impersonated police officers, police spokesperson Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said this week.

He said they were wanted in connection with a robbery on the R21 in the direction of the OR Tambo International Airport on 9 October last year.

A motorist noticed a silver vehicle with a blue light pulling up behind him, ordering him to stop. The motorist had picked up diplomats at the airport and was on his way to a guesthouse.

“After he stopped, one of the occupants approached him and ordered him to hand over his car keys. After he had complied, the trio robbed the diplomats of their belongings and sped off,” Makgale said.

One of the robbers was wearing a light blue shirt with khaki pants, spoke Sesotho and had a calm expression. The robber is bald and is believed to be in his 50s.

Anyone with information are urged to phone Crime Stop tip-off line at 08600-10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.
