23 arrested for various crimes

Police have recently arrested 23 people for being on the wrong side of the law.

Hercules police have recently arrested 23 people for various crimes in the area. Offences included drunken driving, possession of stolen motor vehicles, theft, pointing of a firearm, possession of drugs, dealing in liquor, robbery and drinking in public.

In a rundown of the arrests Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said in one case a 53-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in Pretoria Gardens and a 65-year-old man was arrested for pointing a firearm: “The man was under the influence of alcohol when he pointed a firearm at employees of Uncle Ben’s Den old age home in Daspoort, when they were helping him to load items into his vehicle.”

In Pretoria Gardens a 20-year-old man was arrested in possession of a Ford Fiesta, which was recently reported stolen in Pretoria North.

“A 43-year-old man was arrested for theft of a bicycle. He stole the bicycle from inside the garage in Swacina Park, while residents were sleeping. And a 50-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence for striking his girlfriend’s father with a brick on the head at Gomora Squatter camp,” Msimango said.

A woman (25) from the Zama-Zama Squatter camp was also arrested for allegedly dealing liquor without a licence. A 35-year-old man was arrested for common robbery after he hit and robbed a man of R750 and a cell phone. The man was hit with a sharp object on the head.
