Body found with shot wounds

Police are busy investigating a murder case that took place in Mamelodi East.

Mamelodi East police are investigating a case of murder after they found a dead man in an open veld between Stoffel Park and Extension 15, following a shooting on Tuesday evening.

The police received an anonymous call around 19:00 about the shooting.

“Upon arrival the police found the dead body of an African male whose identity is still unknown but could be in his late 20s. The victim was found with gunshot wounds to his body,” said Warrant Officer Michael Mbewe.

The man wore black trousers, grey sneakers and a blue jacket.

The police are appealing for information regarding the identity of the victim, or any other leads to assist them in the investigation.

The police consider the place a crime hot spot following numerous complaints of robberies in the area. They have undertaken to patrol it regularly.

Community members are advised to avoid isolated areas, especially after dark.

A case of murder was opened but no arrests has yet been made. Residents with information that might help solve the case, are asked to contact crime stop on 08600 10111.
