Three men were arrested in Pretoria North when they were found in possession of house breaking equipment and stolen property, police said.
Police spokesperson Mirna Von Benecke said the alleged burglars were arrested after they received information of a house break-in: “We received information about the burglary from a witness. A CPF (Community Police Forum) member followed the suspects and called the police for back-up. Three police cars responded and joined the CPF member who continued to follow the suspects.”
As police closed in on them, Von Benecke says a call came through, reporting another house burglary: “One of the police vehicles reacted while the other police and the CPF support continued to chase the robbers’ car. After a long chase, the suspects hit a dead-end street and police apprehended two of the suspects. One of them fled but was caught at the N4-highway. The suspects were positively identified to be linked to the latest house robbery.”
The robbers, aged between late 20s and early 30s, were found with stolen property and house break-in equipment. “We have opened a case of burglary, possession of house break-in implements and stolen property,” said Von Benecke.
