Man dies after cemetery attack

Police are investigating a murder after a 30-year-old man died in hospital two days after a brutal assault at a cemetery in Eesterust, spokesperson, Constable Sam Shibambo said.

According to reports, the man was assaulted and left for dead after he allegedly stole a laptop from a resident’s kitchen.

“He died in hospital after being assaulted by unknown attackers. The victim was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after he was found injured at the Eersterust cemetery,” said Shibambo.

The man died in hospital on Thursday. “Eesterust police are currently investigating a case of murder. No suspects have been arrested yet,” Shibambo said
