Sunnyside suicide: Identity still unknown
The woman that committed suicide on Friday, has still not been identified by police.

The identity of woman who jumped from the 7th floor of a Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) student apartment building in Sunnyside, is still unknown.
Coba Brits, police cluster spokesperson, said fingerprints had been taken to determine the identity of the woman that allegedly committed suicide on Friday.
“We cannot confirm her name yet, but it is believed that she was in her thirties,” Brits said.
Willa de Ruyter, TUT spokesperson, said the woman was not a student at TUT nor did she reside in the Zethushof building where she died.
Brits said she was last seen by witnesses entering the building just before 10:00. She jumped from the building, Zethushof, in Park Street and was declared dead on the scene.
“It is still unclear how she gained entry to the building and we cannot confirm what she was doing there before her death. Police found some of her belongings in one of the apartments,” Brits said.
An eyewitness told Rekord she was buying airtime when there was a short yelp and the sound of the woman hitting the ground.
“I am still in shock. I cannot believe that someone could take their own life like that,” the witness said.
The Sunnyside police are investigating.
