Three robbers arrested after high-speed chase
Three armed men arrested in connection with a business robbery after a high-speed chase in East Lynne.
An Internet Café manager in East Lynne was assaulted and robbed of R1 100 on Saturday.
Captain Coba Brits, spokesperson for the Villieria police, said three men inspected the shop an hour before the robbery.
“They went inside, looked around and left. The armed men returned an hour later and assaulted the manager before robbing him,” she said.
An eyewitness alerted the police and they gave chase. The police arrested the robbers after a high-speed chase and found a gas pistol in their possession.
“The gas pistol gave the impression of a real firearm and the crime must, therefore, be viewed in a serious light. We are investigating an armed robbery on a business premises and the possession of vehicle break-in equipment,” Brits said.
She said the manager was only slightly injured.
