The family of Adrian Kruger this week welcomed a court sentence that will see his killer spending the rest of his life in prison. Michael Nkosi (39) from Mamelodi has been jailed for life by the High Court in Pretoria for killing Kruger.
Kruger’s sister Conin Venter said she was satisfied with the lengthy sentence and was happy justice had been done, adding: “I can finally have closure.”
Kruger (40), who was reported missing at Sunnyside police station, was found dead in Mamelodi West on July 2012.
Nkosi pleaded guilty to murder and armed robbery on 17 March 2014 and was sentenced on 6 August. He was given a 15-year prison sentence for armed robbery.
The trial of a second accused, Frank Sebina, will be heard separately as he pleaded not guilty to both offences. He will be back in court in October.
Captain Johannes Maheso said: “Warrant Officer Riaan Cloete of the Mamelodi police detective unit worked tirelessly and the investigation led to the arrest of Michael Nkosi and Frank Sebina (25). The suspects were arrested a week later in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga, where the victim’s car and cellphone were recovered.”
