Lyttelton police are making steady progress in their fight against crime.

Lyttelton police are making steady progress in their fight against crime, said station commander Colonel Daniel Pogole. He said the station conducted between three and four operations a week.

This usually entailed road blocks, stop-and-search operations and patrols. “We usually start at 04:00 in the morning,” said Pogole.

Lyttelton police spokesperson Hero Gumbu said three people were arrested on Wednesday, driving a blue Polo Playa and contraband cigarettes with a street value of R30 000 were seized.

In a joint operation with the Brooklyn, Garsfontein, Villieria, Moot and Sunnyside police stations another man was caught at the Fountains Circle. Stolen goods were recovered from his vehicle. The suspect was driving an Audi A4 with a blue police light attached to the roof.
