A group of heavily-armed men robbed the iStore in Centurion Mall on Friday.
DA councillor Christa Spoelstra, an eyewitness, said she had just walked out of DisChem Pharmacy when four men holding blankets with electronic goods walked passed her.
“At first I thought this was strange, but then shrugged it off. Then another two men walked past me with very big weapons. I got such a big fright,” Spoelstra said.
When the armed robbers casually walked passed her, she seized the opportunity and entered the Telkom store before it locked its doors.
“I was scared stiff. We (Spoelstra and Telkom employees) stood in the shop for a few seconds before we suddenly heard multiple gun shots. It was crazy.”
Police were not immediately able to confirm the robbery.
