Female police officers in the Ga-Rankuwa cluster along with the metro police arrested 145 people on Friday during Operation Basadi.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Rebecca Phatlhane, said police from Akasia, Mabopane, Pretoria North and Soshanguve worked together to conduct operations in all problematic crime spots.

Some of the offences included armed robbery, assault, housebreaking, shoplifting and theft.

Police also nabbed illegal immigrants and those in possession of stolen goods and dagga.

Other offenders are detained for crimes ranging from obstruction of traffic, to drinking and driving.

The Pretoria North police on Thursday also arrested a man believed to have been involved in a business robbery in the area.

Phatlhane said upon searching the alleged robber’s house in Mabopane, police found dagga, insulated copper wire, bottles of expensive liquor and a bag with pricey shoes.

“The worth of the goods is estimated at R24 856,” she said.

All offenders will appear in court soon.
