An alleged drug dealer has been caught with almost 20kg of dagga hidden in the ceiling of his house in Mamelodi, police said.

An alleged drug dealer has been caught with almost 20kg of dagga hidden in the ceiling of his house in Mamelodi, police said.

Captain Bonginkosi Msimango, police cluster spokesperson, said the 33-year-old man was arrested on Friday on the corner 7th Avenue and Cowie Street in Marabastad.

“Baltimore security officers noticed a white BMW without number plates driving around the area. Metro police officers were called and the vehicle was pulled over and searched,” Msimango said.

Several packages of dagga was found inside the vehicle.

“Further investigations led to the alleged dealer’s house in Mamelodi where black plastic bags containing dagga was found hidden in the ceiling,” Msimango said.

The dagga weighed in at 19.94kg.

The man will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s court on Monday on charges of dealing in dagga.
