Scores arrested at the weekend
Pretoria central police cluster have arrested 179 people for various crimes at the weekend.

A total of 179 people are destined to appear in court soon after they were arrested in an anti-crime swoop in the Pretoria Central cluster at the weekend, police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said.
They were facing charges ranging from murder, rape and fraud, to dealing in dagga, cable theft and drunken driving.
“The suspects were arrested over the weekend from 22 August to 24 August within Hercules, Wierdabrug, Pretoria West, Wonderboompoort, Atteridgeville, Erasmia, Laudium and Olievenhoutbosh,” Msimango said.
“Among the arrested are suspects apprehended during the Base Camp operation whereby Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) tickets amounted to R35 750 were issued to motorists.”
Others were arrested from crimes such as house robbery, attempted business robbery, possession of suspected stolen properties, shoplifting and malicious damage to property.
“Other suspects were arrested for common robbery, pointing of firearm, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, dealing in liquor, walking on railway lines, pedestrian source of danger, drinking in public and urinating in public,” said Msimango.
