Man axed by neighbour

Man still in ICU after being hit with an axe on Friday during an altercation with his neighbour.

A man from Danville who was attacked by his neighbour with an axe during a fight at a house in Knight Street, is still in ICU in hospital.

Dirkie de Bruin (27) and his neighbour were fighting but no one knows why, said the acting chairperson of Pretoria West Community Policing Forum (CPF) sector 2, Willie Cronje.

“The man hit Dirkie in his back near the spinal cord, the neck and head. After the altercation the attacker fled the scene leaving Dirkie in a pool of blood,” Cronje said.

The sector was called to the scene with their Emergency Response Team (ERT) to assist.

“I called the paramedics from Best Care to assist. Dirkie was then taken to the hospital in a critical condition.”

Cronje told Rekord that at about 00:50 Saturday morning, Dirkie’s attacker was arrested by the sector members and the police.

Cronje said that Dirkie is in ICU at the Steve Biko Academic hospital.

Police could not be reached for comment.
