Telkom shop robber caught
A man was arrested after attempting to rob a Telkom shop on Sunday.
Security guards prevented a robbery at a Telkom shop in Woodlands Shopping Centre on Sunday.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Dave Miller said four men entered the store and tried to rob the shop when security guards caught them. One man was arrested, but his three accomplices managed to get away.
The arrested man appeared in court on Monday morning on a charge of attempted robbery.
“Garsfontein police are investigating and more arrests are expected,” Miller said.
This follows after two men robbed a Cell C shop in Hatfield Plaza a week earlier.
Police cluster spokesperson Hero Gumbu, said two armed men entered the Cell C shop last week Sunday and ordered the store manager to open the safe.
“The men loaded 51 cellphones worth R25 000 into a box and took R2 500 from the till,” Gumbu said. “The robbers used cable ties to tie up the manager and cashier before fleeing the scene. No one was injured.”
