New councillor passionate about community

Ward 52 has a new councillor who is eager to help the community.

Centurion resident Frans Smith has been elected a Democratic Alliance councillor in the Moot area on the other side of Pretoria — but sees no obstacles in representing Ward 52.

“With technology it is so easy for residents to phone me or send me an email regarding an issue. Though I live in Hennopspark, I am quite content to drive to anyone who requires my help,” says the father of three.

“I am very passionate about the community and I enjoy serving the community. I was a ward councillor in Centurion from 1996 to 2000 and I am glad to be councillor for this wonderful area now.”

Originally from Nylstroom, Smith has lived in Pretoria for a great part of his life and says he loves the city dearly.

“I am very actively involved in the community in Centurion and am going out of my way to get more involved in the ward 2 community as well.”

Smith is an active member of the NG Church Sesmylspruit and has served as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years.

He is also a member of the SA Gideons, served on the management committees of Hennopspark Primary School, is Caplain of the Voortrekkers Centurion and has been associated with the Voortrekkers for over 40 years.

“I am a people person and I plan to focus my initial efforts as councillor on the security and neighbourhood of ward 52. I am very passionate about creating a safe and friendly environment for the community of this area.”
