A heated argument between a man and his girlfriend at their shack in Mooiplaas informal settlement, has led to her gruesome death, police said on Wednesday.
Erasmia police spokesman Constable Tumisang Moloto said they were called to the settlement in the early hours of Tuesday morning. “They discovered that a man had stabbed and killed his 32-year-old girlfriend. Witnesses said the couple had had heated arguments throughout the night.”
Moloto said police recovered a bloodied knife, believed to have been used in the murder.
“A 51-year-old suspect has been arrested and is being held at Erasmia police station pending appearance at the Attridgeville Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder. The murder adds to the growing statistics of criminal acts committed by men against their partners, particularly as we see out Women’s Month.”
