
Fifty seven people were arrested in the past two days by Gauteng police emergency services (PES) during a crime prevention operation, said spokesperson Captain Pinky Tsinyane.
“Forty two were arrested for drugs, four for a stolen vehicle, three for public violence,” she said.
Three people were arrested for assault and two for theft in Pretoria North. “Others were arrested for armed robbery, fraud and possession of counterfeit DVDs,” Tsinyane said.
A VW panel van and a Toyota Quantum valued at R300 000 were recovered on the Old Johannesburg Road.
“Investigations in different police stations are continuing. All suspects were arrested in different areas in Gauteng. They will be appearing in different magistrates’ courts soon, facing charges of various crimes,” she said.
