Heist yields almost R82 000
Five robbers armed with AK47’s fled with nearly R82 000 taken from a filing station in Pretoria west.
Another filling station was robbed in the early hours of Tuesday morning by heavily-armed men.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain Doniah Mothutsane said five men entered the filling station in Pretoria West at 04:00, armed with AK47 automatic rifles, a crowbar and a hammer.
She said they forced employees out of the convenience store before bombing the drop-safe.
“They robbed the filling station of R81 240 and fled the scene in a white Volvo S60 with no registration number.”
Mothutsane said no one was injured. She urged anyone with more information to come forward.
Robbers, mostly armed with automatic rifles, have been targeting filling station across Pretoria in recent months, heisting thousands of rands from each station. The modus operadi in each robbery is the same. The robbers enter the convenience store and blow open the drop safe before fleeing the scene.
