Two Laudium motorists were hijacked and robbed by four armed men on Saturday night as they were making their way home.
The armed robbers drove in a black BMW and pulled up alongside the motorists and fired shots at them to force them off the road.
According to Captain Bonginkosi Msimango, police spokesperson, the driver stopped the vehicle when shards of glass from the broken windshield went into his face.
Two of the armed robbers jumped out of the BMW and forced the two motorists out of the vehicle. The robbers fled the scene in the motorist’s vehicle and managed to heist R2 000 and two cellphones.
Msimango said the police later retrieved the abandoned Chevrolet in Atteridgeville on Saturday night.
“The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care,” he said.
A case of hijacking and attempted murder is being investigated.
