Police arrest two for house robbery

Police kicked off a zero tolerance campaign with the arrest of two men for house robbery at the Gomorrah informal settlement recently.

Hercules police have announced that with the festive season around the corner, no crime will be tolerated as they will be applying zero tolerance in their precinct.

Because crime is rife during the festive season, police have vowed to work hard getting criminals off the streets so that residents can have a blissful Christmas. When the zero tolerance kicked in on Thursday, police arrested two men for house robbery in the Gomorrah informal settlement.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Bonginkosi Msimango, the two men involved in the robbery are 25-years-old. “On Thursday (4 December) two males armed with bottles and a knife forced open a shack at the informal settlement and found the owner asleep inside the shack. The men demanded money and also robbed him of other items before fleeing on foot.”

A case of house robbery was opened at the Hercules police station the same day. Police started investigating and managed to arrest the men at Gomorrah informal settlement, who were still in possession of the victim’s cell phone.

The two men will be appearing at the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon, facing charges of house robbery.
