Tied-up man found dead in home was loner
A man was found dead and tied up in his home in Pretoria North on Monday, police said.
Hendrik Retief, a 53-year-old man who was found dead and tied up in his Pretoria North home on Monday, was a quiet man who had no family, his brother-in-law Derick Hickley told Rekord.
“He had no wife nor kids. He lived with his mother for many years before she passed and he continued to live in the house alone. He was a very quiet person and he kept to himself ,” he said.
Retief was found dead and tied up in his home on Jan Van Riebeeck Street on Monday evening after he didn’t report to work.
“We are still waiting for further information from the police. All we know is that he apparently didn’t show up for work and was found dead by a friend who went to check up on him,” said Hickley.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Khensani Magoai said Retief was found at 18:25 with his hands and feet tied.
“We are investigating a case of murder and house robbery. The cause of death is still to be determined,” she said.
