Moolman group gives to the community
The Moolman group spreads Christmas cheer with a Christmas decoration project for children.
The Moolman Group is once again spreading the Christmas cheer this year with its Bags Full of Love project.
Its core business is the expansion of its property portfolio through both direct acquisition and green field development. The Group’s diverse portfolio incorporates interests in the retail, office and industrial market segments.
This project involves local school children assisting in creating festive season décor at certain of the group’s shopping centres.
The project has grown over the years from three schools and one shopping centre in 2012 to twelve schools and six shopping centres this year. Each school receives white paper shopping bags and a variety of stationery with which to decorate them.
The schools keep the stationery to use as they see fit after the project is over. Children decorate the bags, which are then put up as part of the Christmas décor at their local shopping centre for all to see.
A total of 4,142 paper bags were decorated this year. In addition, a wish list is requested from each school for items that they need to make their day-to-day operations easier.
The proposed wish list value per school this year is R20,000 over and above the donated stationery bringing the total Moolman Group contribution to R230,000.
The centres participating in this year’s Bags Full of Love promotion are Magalies View Centre in Rustenburg; Groblersdal Game Centre in Groblersdal; Cycad Centre and Seshego Circle Centre in Polokwane; KG Mall in eMalahleni (Witbank); and Madelief Centre in Pretoria North.
All these centres were developed by the Moolman Group and form part of its property portfolio.
The Bags Full of Love initiative is intended to foster stronger relationships between the respective shopping centres and their surrounding communities.
Pieter Lombaard, CEO of the Moolman Group, said the project not only gave something back to the community in the form of financial support and donated stationery, but also encouraged participation in the mall’s activities.
