Police’s hard works pay off
Police: crime seemed manageable in the north of Pretoria compared to previous years.
The north of Pretoria enjoyed a reasonably manageable festive season when it came to crime in the various areas.
According to Captain Riana van Aarde, spokesperson for the Akasia police, crime seemed manageable compared to 2013. “I think the reason behind it might be that our precinct areas became a little smaller compared to previous years,” she said.
However, the Akasia police still had to deal with the burden of house break-ins.
“We thank each and every police member and resident for their on-going contribution towards the safety of Akasia precinct,” van Aarde said.
Lieutenant Rebecca Phatlane, spokesperson for Pretoria-north police, attributes the quitter festive season to a joint ‘When Duty Calls’ operation launched during the festive season.
“The police launched the operation every Saturday and Sunday in the hope of curbing crime. It seems as if it had a positive impact in the Pretoria-north precinct,” Phatlane said.
Mirna von Benecke from the Sinoville police also thanked the police and community members for their on-going support and for being the eyes and ears of their community.
She said the ‘When Duty Calls’ operation had a very positive effect on the area. The Sinoville police launched the operations straight through the week, which deliver positive fruits throughout the festive season.
“I thank everyone involved and for their motivation to keep the areas safe and security. I am looking forward to entering into a crime-free 2015,” she said.
