Metro police to investigate the dangers with motorists ignoring proper road procedures at a four-way stop in Sinoville.
Tshwane metro police officers will be deployed to investigate the four-way stop saga that has come to light last week.
A video showing motorists ignoring a four-way stop sign on the corner of Braam Pretorius and Aldo streets in Sinoville made its way onto social media platforms. This stop sign is located in front of Hoërskool Overkruin and pupils cross the street to get to the school.
During the almost one-minute long video that concerned motorist Leon Kotzé made, only two vehicles that crossed the intersection made an attempt to slow down.
Kotzé’s main concern was the safety of his two children who were with him in the car most of the time, one of whom is five months old and the other nearly three, said Kotze.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, metro police spokesperson, said metro police will investigate. “We were not made aware of the problem but we will investigate the matter.”
He said metro police officers will be deployed in the area to provide assistance to the pupils when they cross the street and to observe the situation.
“We have the interest of the community at heart and care about their well-being,” Mahamba said.
He said the situation will be assessed to help pave the way forward.
