Two suspects are on the run following a business robbery, high-speed car chase, and shoot-out with police on Luttig Street in Pretoria West last week.

The Pretoria West Police Highway Patrol Unit received a tip-off from private security company Vision Tactical regarding a business robbery in progress at the Kwagga Centre in Pretoria West on September 22 at around 17:00.

Officers were informed that the suspects were travelling in a grey Suzuki previously linked to a robbery in Villeria.

“The vehicle was spotted and chased from Luttsig Street in Pretoria West, a grey Suzuki… the suspect vehicle then collided with a grey Toyota Corolla at the corner of Rebecca and WF Nkomo streets,” said Pretoria West police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma.

“Suspects came out of the vehicle and started running on foot toward Pretoria West SAPS members. One suspect was shot in the right leg and apprehended with one magazine and seven live rounds of ammunition found next to him,” Vuma said.

A search of the Suzuki revealed an unlicensed firearm with one magazine and no rounds hidden under the seat.

The vehicle was impounded at the Pretoria West SAPS pound after investigators confirmed it was used in the Villeria robbery and multiple other cases.

Vuma said two additional suspects fled the scene after the crash, and residents with information are urged to contact their local authorities.

The injured suspect is expected to make his initial court appearance in due course, pending his recovery.
