Five armed men robbed a filling station and bombed an ATM in Mooikloof on Thursday night.
Spokesperson Captain Marissa van der Merwe said a group of armed men arrived at the garage around 23:30.
“They were driving a Volvo and were armed with rifles when they approached the garage. They pointed the firearm at the petrol attendants and told them to lie on the floor,” she said.
“Two suspects went inside the shop, pointed a gun at the cash register employee and told her to get out. A customer was told to lie on the floor.”
Inside the garage, one of the robbers emptied the cash register and took R5 000, while another one set explosives at the drop safe and bombed the ATM.
The men stole cash from the safe and drove off.
No one had been arrested and the police investigation was continuing, Van der Merwe said.
