A shot was fired in an apparent robbery attempt in a jewellery store in Lynnwood Bridge Mall on Friday afternoon.
An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said he saw two armed men rushing out of the Jenna Clifford store around 15:00 after the shot was heard.
“A number of people, waiters and staff from other shops, were chasing after the two, who were both carrying what looked like 9mm pistols,” he said.
The fleeing pair quickly crossed the bridge linking the mall to Glenfair Shopping Centre and ran down a set of stairs. They jumped into a red Volkswagen Polo and drove away a minute later, apparently after they had a quick consultation.
Another witness said the men shot at a glass holder in the jewellery store, which shattered.
“Nothing was stolen as the staff managed to press the panic button.”
No injuries were reported.
Police, who were still on the scene by late afternoon, declined to comment immediately.
