Manhunt launched for three jewellery robbers
Three armed men are at large after they robbed a jewellery store at Lynnwood Bridge Mall on Friday.
The Garsfontein police have launched a manhunt for three armed men after Jenna Clifford jewellery store was robbed in Lynnwood Bridge Mall on Friday afternoon.
Spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said three unknown armed men entered the shop at around 15:20.
“The suspects were armed with hammers and a firearm. They smashed the windows and stole an unknown amount of jewellery,” she said.
The robbers allegedly fired two shots before fleeing the scene in a red Volkswagen Polo.
An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said he saw the armed men rushing out of the store after the shots were heard.
“A number of people, waiters and staff from other shops, were chasing after them. They quickly crossed the bridge linking the mall to Glenfair Shopping Centre and ran down a set of stairs.”
He said the robbers jumped into the Polo and drove away minute later.
