Erasmia police have arrested four people in possession of stolen medication valued at R6 900. Spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the arrested were aged between 21 and 33.
He said police were on patrol and stopped two suspicious-looking men carrying a brown box at around 18:45 on Thursday. The men were searched and tablet medication was found inside the box.
“The suspects led police to a house in Steynburg Street where another man was arrested for receiving stolen property from the two suspects,” Moloto said.
During the investigation Moloto said a woman was arrested on a bribery charge when she tried to bribe one of the police officers with R3 000 cash.
“It was discovered that the medication was stolen from a pharmacy in Johannesburg. Police suspect that the men used the house in Erasmia as a drop-off point in exchange for money. The stolen medication was then taken to a pharmacy in Laudium,” Moloto said.
Cases of suspected stolen property possession and bribery are now being investigated. “We do not exclude the possibility that more people will be arrested. Police are trying to determine if the suspects are linked to other crimes,” Moloto said.

The four offenders were expected to appear at Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon.
