Would-be robber nabbed on the spot
A man was arrested in Erasmia after he was caught trying to break into a house.
A would-be robber was arrested on the spot as he was apparently gearing up to break into a house in Erasmia on Wednesday, police said.
Spokesperson Constable Tumisamg Moloto said the 24-year-old man was caught at a house in Theron Street, after a burglar alarm went off.
“A domestic worker was busy in the house when she heard the alarm and told the owner who was also in the house about what was happening. They saw the suspect in the yard and alerted the police who arrived at the scene without delay.”
Moloto said the man was found in possession of two towels worth about R300, and was charged with theft at the Erasmia police station.
He appeared in the Attridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and the matter was postponed to 17 February 2015.
