Three armed men were arrested outside Hoërskool Zwartkop on Thursday morning after they tied up and robbed two women in Eldoraigne earlier in the day.
André Vorster, spokesperson for the Wierdabrug Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 3, said the CPF received an emergency call around 08:15 from a man who claimed his wife had been tied up in their home in Ewald Street.
Vorster said CPF members along with the police and Orange Fox Security officers rushed to the scene and found the two women tied up in the house.
Information of the vehicle was apparently received by one of the neighbours, who was pointed at with a firearm during the robbery. Monitor Net and Copwatch spotted the vehicle and demanded the robbers to pull over.
Three men were arrested and taken to the Wierdabrug police station.
Vorster said cellphones and jewellery were found on the men.
Rekord early in January reported that armed robbers hit four houses in Eldoraigne in four days.
In one of the robberies, six men lifted the security gate off its rails at a house in Roan Nook Street and gained access to the house through an open garage on 7 January.
The intruders tied up a family of three, including a six-year-old boy, on the floor of the lounge and ransacked the house.
They took a television set, an iPad, and cellphones and fled in the family’s silver Audi A4 and their own vehicle, a Nissan Juke, that was parked around the corner.
Earlier in the day, three men held a woman at gunpoint when she arrived at her house in Koos Smal Road.
Two armed men stopped behind her in the driveway, jumped out of a light blue Hyundai Atos and threatened her with a firearm.
The gardener was also held at gunpoint.
The men stole a handbag, cellphone and jewellery before fleeing the scene.
About 25 minutes earlier, three armed men gained access to a house in Kort Street by jumping over a wall and forcing open the front door.
The domestic worker was held at gunpoint for about 40 minutes while the men ransacked the house. Two television sets, a laptop, iPhone and other items were stolen.
The men fled and the worker immediately locked the door and called for help.
This followed four days after three men told the owner of a house in Ewald Street they were searching for a guest house in the vicinity.
They suddenly pulled a gun, prompting his wife to press the panic button.
The men fled with a television set, cash and jewellery before help could arrive. They also took a set of house and car keys.
