Gauteng MEC for roads and transport, Ismail Vadi and Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa on Monday visited the Centurion licensing services to follow-up on an unscheduled visit on 22 January.
The visits followed years of complaints from residents, and the shambles in which the centre was left over the 2014 holiday period.
Justus de Goede, DA Gauteng spokesperson on transport has celebrated the visit. “Ismail Vadi must be applauded for his follow-up visit to the Centurion licensing department. Accompanied by Tshwane mayor Kgosienso Ramokgopa, Vadi conducted the visit this week to ascertain if there had been an improvement in the tardy service experienced by motorists. However, little seems to have changed.”
De Goede added that unless justifiably tough action was taken to bring these centres to a semblance of order and decent management, thousands of residents will continue to suffer from long delays, aggravated by poor staff attitudes.
He has also called on the MEC and his department to take sterner action against incompetence at licensing services across the province.
